Carbon Reduction Plan

Wardcon Limited is committed to achieving

Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Our Baseline Emissions Footprint (Baseline Year 2021)

Wardcon is a fully remote working company. We have no physical office premises so our emissions are based on an estimated consumption of how much our team would consume during their working day by using an office equivalent. All employees work remotely from their own homes or on-site with their clients. There is some employee commuting to team meetings and quarterly company meetings. Wardcon does not purchase or sell any goods. We do however do have an Environmental Policy that educates and encourages employees on environmental best practises and carbon reduction.

Therefore we estimate our emissions as follows:

  • TOTAL (tCO2e) – 67.8 (kgCO2e)
  • Our Direct ‘Burn’ (Scope 1; Direct emissions e.g fuel to heat or power buildings) @ 46.9
  • Our Indirect Burn (Scope 2; Indirect emissions generated from purchased energy e.g. cooling, heating) @ 17.9
  • Our other Indirect carbon emissions (Scope 3 e.g. business travel, waste disposal) @ 3 and specifically relates to Categories 6 and 7)

Current Emissions Reporting

  • Our Direct ‘Burn’ (Scope 1; Direct emissions e.g fuel to heat or power buildings) @ 46.9
  • Our Indirect Burn (Scope 2; Indirect emissions generated from purchased energy e.g. cooling, heating) @ 17.9
  • Our other Indirect carbon emissions (Scope 3 e.g. business travel, waste disposal) @ 3 and specifically relates to Categories 6 and 7)

Emissions reduction targets

Wardcon commits to reduce its GHG emissions each year by implementing and continuing the reduction initiatives contained in this plan in line to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Wardcon has reduced its carbon emissions by moving out of a physical office to fully remote working. Remote working initially started in 2020 due to the pandemic and subsequently made permanent in 2021, as this supported our goals of becoming a more carbon efficient company and the reduction of emissions generated by employee commuting.

Wardcon has become a fully cloud based company, reducing the scope 1 emissions produced from the physical hardware, that was previously present and operating in our offices. We will continue to explore how we can reduce our emissions further, in any future technology and or company system purchases that we make.

To reduce and achieve a sustainable reduction in the carbon generated from business travel, we have changed our interviewing and meeting processes. Wardcon has adopted a policy of holding its meetings virtually using video conferencing wherever possible.
In 2021 as part of our office departure, we recycled company items that were no longer required. The departure was managed with a policy of producing as little landfill waste as possible.

Future Measures and Aims:

  • Moving any/all company vehicles to Hybrid or fully electric cars.
  • Recycling old employee computers and laptops through schemes that gift and or reuse technology that would otherwise go to landfill.
  • Supporting a charity that will help us fulfil our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint through offsetting schemes, such as planting trees.
  • Ensuring employee travel is chosen based on the most environmentally friendly method possible in the circumstances.
  • Continue to carry out our meetings virtually using video conferencing and where this is not possible, by a means that involves the lowest amount of travel and or emissions possible.
  • Promote environmental awareness amongst our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work.
  • Purchase recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical, and suitable.
